Academic Success: Scholars will attend at least 90% of total school days; acquire a regimented, study schedule and set personal goals; and increase their GPA
Leadership Skills: Scholars will engage in weekly service with Trenton-based community organizations. They will also contribute positively to their house community by taking responsibility for their chores, living area, and demeanor.
Social Emotional Life Skills: Scholars will identify, navigate, and advocate for themselves in adverse situations such as stereotyping, bullying, and sexual aggression; and develop relationship building skills by having access to mentors and peers.
Expanding our impact: We plan to increase our number of scholars from 11 to 20 in the first phase, and then 20 to 40 in the second phase (ten scholars per grade). This means... GPA, attendance, etc.
Expanding Capacity: In order to support the increasing number of scholars, we will need:
Bigger school bus
Licensing and insurance
PROVIDING SUPPORTIVE AND EDUCATIONAL RESIDENTIAL ENVIRONMENT
$1.5 million of our campaign goal is going toward expanding our staff and funding operations costs, allowing us to continue educating our scholars.
PILLAR GOAL: $250,000 of $1,500,000
By the end of our program, each graduating scholar will be economically and academically empowered, have improved their sense of identity, and be actively engaged in service in their community.
HomeWorks is asking for $1.5 million in order to hire additional staff and pay salaries for the next 3 years, purchase a larger school bus, pay for utilities and other house costs, and cover licensing and insurance for our program.
