Why do social platforms suggest specific Instagram profiles?
Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed that social media platforms often recommend accounts that seem surprisingly relevant to people I recently interacted with, sometimes the suggestions make sense, but other times they feel completely random, It got me wondering how these recommendation systems actually work behind the scenes and what kind of activity influences them the most, Is it based on mutual connections, profile visits, shared interests, or something else entirely? I’m not particularly concerned about it, just curious about the logic behind these suggestions, has anyone looked into how these algorithms decide which profiles appear in recommendations and whether user behavior affects them more than we realize?

A funny thing happened after I cleaned up my social media accounts last month, I unfollowed a bunch of profiles, then a few days later tried to remember one creator whose posts I actually enjoyed, but the name was completely gone from my head, I spent more time searching than I expected and started looking for ways to retrace recent activity, during that process recently-followed, which pointed me in the right direction, since then, I’ve been a lot more careful before making quick changes to my follow lists.
